Planium Child Safety Standards

Effective date: 10 September 2026

Planium is a social app for planning activities with friends, made and operated by Mike Balvert (operating as "Softium"), an individual developer based in the Netherlands. Contact: mike@softium.nl, or see the support page.

These standards explain how Planium prohibits, prevents, detects and responds to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). They apply to everyone using Planium, however they use it: the website, the installable web app, and the Planium app. They are part of Planium's Terms of Use and should be read alongside the Privacy Policy.

1. Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation

Planium has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. It is absolutely prohibited to use Planium in any way that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a child — meaning anyone under 18 years old. This includes, and is not limited to:

Breaking this rule is not a matter of a warning. Accounts involved in CSAE are terminated immediately and without notice, and the case is reported to the authorities.

2. Age requirement

Planium is not directed at children. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, as set out in the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. Accounts I learn belong to someone younger are deleted. Planium contains no content directed at children and is not designed or marketed for them.

3. How Planium is designed to reduce risk

Planium is built for planning things with people you already know, and several design choices limit the risk of harm to minors:

4. How to report CSAE or a child safety concern

If you see anything on Planium that endangers a child, please report it. You can do this from inside the app, without leaving it:

When reporting you pick a category, including inappropriate content and harassment. Reports come directly to me and are reviewed manually. A snapshot of the reported content is kept so it can still be reviewed if the original is later edited or deleted. Reporting is anonymous to the person reported.

You can also report anything at any time, including content outside of chat, by emailing mike@softium.nl or via the support page. Reports involving child safety are treated as the highest priority and reviewed ahead of everything else.

You do not need to be certain, and you do not need proof. If something feels wrong, report it and let me assess it.

5. How I respond

6. Reporting to the authorities

I comply with applicable Dutch and EU child safety law. Confirmed or suspected child sexual abuse material and other CSAE found on Planium is reported to the competent authorities, which for Planium means:

Users and non-users can also report directly to any of these organisations themselves, and nothing in these standards prevents that. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first — in the Netherlands, 112.

7. Child safety point of contact

Planium is a one-person project, so the designated child safety point of contact is:

Mike Balvert — developer and operator of Planium (Softium)
Email: mike@softium.nl

This address reaches me directly and I am able to speak to Planium's CSAE prevention practices, its review procedures, and enforcement, and to take action where required. Google Play, Apple, law enforcement, hotlines and users can all use it.

8. Support for people affected

If you have experienced online sexual abuse or exploitation, help is available regardless of whether you report anything to me:

9. Review and changes

These standards are reviewed as Planium's features change, and updated when needed. They form part of the Terms of Use, so meaningful changes are announced together with changes to the terms rather than separately. Older versions can be requested by email.
